Using a SMA connector or the included conversion adapter (RP-SMA to TNC), the D-Link DWL-M60AT also easily connects to other existing wireless networking devices.

Excellent signal boost to difficult areas..., April 13, 2008
By user (Winterville, NC)
Great product. Prior to my purchase of this antenna I was unable to gain a signal on my laptop from the first floor to the opposite side of the house and second floor where my router is located. I'm now able to receive an "excellent" signal rating.

Very Good Wireless Antenna, December 28, 2007

I am very pleased with the D-Link 6dB1 Antenna. It was very easy to install and has increased my connectivity to my wireless router. With the antenna on my PC wireless card I would get between 3 and 4 bars and would lose the connection but now I am at a constant 5 bars.

This item works, but not as well as advertised. Its reach is not as good as expected.

Didn't do the trick for me. I was trying to go through a couple of plaster-and-lathe walls, which may be too much to ask, but even then it was less effective than the stock antenna.

Plus, it comes in blisterpack packaging = impossible to return. :(

YMMV.

I've several wireless antenna's to hook to a distant access point. For my purposes, this one did little. Even when I pointed it directly in the direction of the router. I finally bought a more expensive antenna that gave me an extra 15% of signal strength. Yet I see others who have had great luck with this product. I think there are quite a few variables to increasing signal strength, you almost have to try a few different products and see what works best for your case.

Not Bad For The Price, May 19, 2007

The antenna boosts the range somewhat and is much cheaper than upgrading all netword nodes to a newer wireless standard that promises more range. A nice feature of the DWL-M60AT is that is can be directed where you need it. My router is the corner of my house and I don't want to boost the signal to neighbors across the street. An advantage of having an antenna separate from the router is that one can elevate the antenna without moving the router.

Does exactly what it says and what I needed, May 13, 2007

The card I have is a D-link DWL-G510 internal. I have never liked wireless because it always seems to be inconsistant especially when gaming online. Having my wireless router two rooms away(20feet) I would only get 2-3 bars(40%) and it would drop randomly especially when gaming. In my last house I just ran a long cord and was fine with it. When I moved to a nicer house, this wasn't going to work. I tried several different cards, but they never seemed to make any difference.

My last option was to try a nicer antanae and see if it really made any difference. The M60AT got good reviews and was priced ok, so I gave it a shot. I am not dissapointed. My connection went from 2-3 bars to 5 and from 40% to 90-100% instantly. My connection no longer drops and I can finally play games online while connected wirelessly.

Pros: Doubled my signal strength, no more inconsistant connection.
Cons: Having to buy it in the first place, I shouldn't need to spend more money just to get a decent connection.

Good but weak, May 13, 2007

The antenna was easy to install and worked well, but it provided only a little more reach than the ominidirectional Linksys 7dBi that it replaced.

    Useless, February 8, 2007

Replaced one of my DIR-625 router omni-directionals with this, carried my signal strength meter around the house and saw absolutely no change. Still looking for a solution.

This directional indoor antenna is compact, good looking and works well. It improves reception noticeably.

Massive improvement over the basic wireless card's antennal. I also use it in conjunction with a dlink repeater. no interuptions ever.

    Disappointing performance, March 25, 2006
By user (New York)
Returning this antenana because the performance was actually worse than the tiny standard Apple G5 antenna with its theoretically less advantaged placement under a desk. Mac Stumbler rates the signal strength around 45-51 with the standard T shaped antenna. Even raising the DWL-M60AT to head height the signal strength never rose over 43%. Maybe the omini-directional standard antenna is better at dealing with the obstructions and DWL-M60AT would perform given clear line of sight. Perhaps the larger Dr Bott directional antenna is worth the 5x premium.

It did the job , in an "Excellent" way !, March 3, 2006
By user (Kuwait)
having several PCs using a PCI WiFi cards, it was hard to get a decent level of connectivity due to the position of the antenna at the back, hidden between th PC case and the wall or a desk. With this cool D-link antenna , i was able to place the antenna at a better position where the signal reception went from low/good to always excellent!
The best setup to have one antenna connected to the router and another or more for the PC's.

Did not work well with DI-524 Router, February 10, 2006
By user (So Cal)
I bought this to hook to my Dlink DI-524 router in order to reach a wireless device at the other end of the house. It did not help at all. I am returing it. I talked to a Dlink tech person and he said that the DI-524 did not have enough power to effectively drive this antenna and he was not surprized that it did not work in my application.

For those that want something to improve the range of their Wireless Access Point (WAP) / wireless router then what you need is an *omni* directional antenna.

This is not what you're looking for. This is a directional antenna, in very simple terms, you'd add to something like a wireless network card, or some other wireless device and point it very specifically in the *direction* of your wireless access point / wireless router.

In my case I have a wireless router, and a number of wireless network clients, one of which is a D-Link DSM-520 HD media player. My problem was, according to the site survey functionality on the DSM-520, I was only seeing a connection level of between 40-50.

My solution was to replace the two 2 dBi antennas on my 802.11g SMC Barricade 2804WBR route with two 8 dBi omni-directional antennas to increase the overall range on my wireless network (site survey on the DSM-520 went from 40-50 range to about 70), and then this product, the D-Link DWL-M60AT 6dBi to replace the 2dBi antenna on the back of my DSM-520 HD media player. On adding this the site survey showed (to my pleasant surprise) a perfect and consistent 100 level.

I highly recommend this product if you want to increase the connection level of a single wireless device to your wireless network. If, however, you wish to increase the overal range of your wireless network then I recommend that you purchase an omni-directional antenna.

An improvement but not by much for the price, November 27, 2005
By user (Joliet, IL)
I connected this to a linksys Wireless G with speedbooster pci card and went from 4 bars of reception to 5 bars and sometimes it will go up and down from 3 to 4 but for the most part it stays at 5 bars. Not sure if its really worth spending over $30 with the shipping for it though.

    little improvement, October 21, 2005
By user
I'm not seeing as much improvement in signal reception as I had hoped. Areas that were receiving acceptable signals before now show stronger reception. Areas that were marginal before show little improvement despite all efforts at antenna placement and aiming.

    D-Link DWL-M60AT works well, October 21, 2005
By user (Des Moines, IA)
This antenna gave me a 30% signal boost when switching from the dinky little plastic antenna on my dlink g520 card. My computer is in the basement and the router the antenna is aimed at is on the 2nd floor of my house. Definitely works if your desktop is behind many obstacles or far away from your router.

Weak Network Reception, October 12, 2005
By user (Northfield, Il)
I have two M60AT antennas. My whole network zips. I use one on my signal repeater and one on my main computer. My signal went from
47 to 93.
