By user (Roman Empire)
I ordered this item after researching intesely to find the best wireless N router for the lowest price...and this came to be it. But My experiences are not the best, I tried to connect my PS3 online and it seems to be somewhat of a dilemma because it severes my internet connection, it tells me it is connected, but neither my pc nor my ps3 are online....so I suggest another router....

Very Pleased, August 1, 2008
By user (Randolph, NJ USA)
I have been using this router for about a month, and am very pleased with its performance. I ran into a problem when trying to set it up, one step in the wizard refused to complete, but it turned out I didn't really need that step, and it has been working fine.

Excellent router, July 14, 2008
By user (Boise, ID)
I replaced my old D-Link, which I had for about 3-4 years, with this one and it works very well for my purposes. It's located in my basement and hooked up to a cable modem. I only access my computer upstairs with it and the signal strength is strong and consistent. It was a piece of cake to set-up as all I did was hook everything up exactly as it was hooked up to the old router... didn't even need to reference the 'instructions'. Turned it on, found it on my upstairs computer, encrypted the access and voila.

Rock solid piece of hardware, July 9, 2008
By user (Haifa, Israel)
I own this router for more than 4 month and I'm very pleased with it. My previous router (Dlink DI-624) was awful, rebooting all the time, slow connections and frequent disconnections.
Since my bad experience with Dlink it wasn't an option to buy new one from Dlink. But still I was reading some reviews on Internet and many of them were positive.
I've decided to give a try and it was successful one.
It is rock solid software (no failures or reboots), fast and full of useful features.
I wish it had a 1Gbit LAN ports, but I new what I'm buying.

Easy to use, great results, July 8, 2008
By user (Ardmore OK USA)
Got the unit working right out of the box. Instructions were clear and easy to understand. No need to call tech support. This is the first wireless router in my home and it's great. I can surf or work anywhere in the house or on the back patio with a cold beverage. My computer is an older P4 running XP Pro. No signal losses and all the speed my cable broadband connection can give is used. A happy customer....

Unable to make wireless file sharing work, July 4, 2008
By user (Pembroke Pines, FL United States)
Bought to replace a D-link 614+. Everything worked except that I was unable to get file sharing work across wireless connection. It worked OK if a hardwire connection. After about 8 hours of messing around with it I gave up and went back to the 614+ which is slow but wireless file sharing works perfectly. If you are not using wireles file sharing everything else seemed to work OK

N Wireless Router, June 11, 2008
By user (Northern MI. USA)
A good product for my purposes. I used it in in a wired network to give me wireless access to the network. It is a little difficult to set up and the instructions are somewhat confusing. But after it was set up it worked great and was bought at a good price. I have not run into any problems with it so far. I would have given it 5 stars if it had not been for the setup confusion.

great product, but wait until you want to secure your network..., June 7, 2008
By user (Los Angeles, CA)
A slim, sleek, reasonably compact device with very acceptable range and good overall performance. It installed like a dream, until it came time to secure my wireless network - a network of a single laptop, mind you. No way one can do it without having to call tech support. And it took several long tech phone calls over different days and a variety of solutions for it to finally work properly and fully. On the plus side, I always got a tech fairly quickly and they did have a reference from prior calls. On the minus side, one time I got disconnected and they never called back even though they had my number, so I had to start over. Also, it took at least three or four different tries/solutions to finally get it right. In retrospect, it was a good thing I did get disconnected, it was that last call that did it!

DLink Dir 625 RangeBooster N Router Wireless, May 23, 2008
By user (Irvine, CA USA)
The product was easy to set up and configure. For the price, it is not a bad solution. But if you need a stronger or farther range, I would not recommend this product,

D-Link is just better., May 13, 2008
By user (Alberta)
Bought this router yesterday, and compared to my Linksys router which completely failed 1 day after the warrenty expired, I am thus far very impressed. Linksys slowed down the cable internet big time and made wireless internet nearly impossible, having to reset it every day. D-Link is by far the better way to go for wireless internet.

Linksys blows. D-Link works flawlessly!, May 5, 2008
By user (Chandler AZ)
Bought a Linksys N router first, the WRT150N. Continuously disconnecting, poor range and needed to power down twice a week. I do not have a cordless phone in the house so I can't blame the problems on that. Had to return the piece of S--t. Bought the D-Link DIR-625. I have not touched it since I configured it and the range is awesome. Very happy!!!

Delighted with this router!, April 20, 2008
By user (NE Illinois)
This router works flawlessly with wireless PCs, X-Box, X-Box 360, PS-2, Wii, Nintendo DS, corporate VPN, and (of course) wired Ethernet. It never needs to be cycled or "bounced". (I have not tried the "N" protocol; I only use the b/g modes.) The router is in the basement near steel beams and a brick wall, but the signal is strong all over the house. I have withheld the 5th star because the admin software is not well organized. I often find myself searching all over for this setting or that. Wouldn't you look under "Setup" for "Time Configuration" (choosing your time zone)? Well, it's under "Tools". Wouldn't the MAC filter go under "Access Control" since its purpose is to control access? Why is "Dynamic DNS" not under "Advanced" while simply setting transmit power is under "Advanced/Advanced Wireless"? Also, you set up MAC filtering by selecting devices by their names (XBox, Wii, Laptop) but thereafter, only the MAC addresses are shown. The column that should show the clients' names lists "Computer Name" on every line instead of the name. If you get rid of a device, there is no easy way to tell which entry to delete from the list. Lists of active sessions, connected devices, etc. are all just addresses, so you can't easily tell who's connected. But, once you finish configuring, you forget about it and enjoy the way it provides stable, reliable service for every kind of device!

Great Router, but SecureSpot 2.0 does not really work, March 31, 2008
By user (Columbus, Ohio)
This works great as a router, but SecureSpot 2.0 did not work well. Scans were endless on my Macs, and PCs did not seem to work right either after the SecureSpot client install. When I used Live Chat for technical support, the support agent indicated that SecureSopt 2.0 was not supported on Macs. I then inquired why the product installed a Mac client and said it supports Macs. Even the internal web pages in the router say Macs are supported and this router firmware is dated 1/31/2008. After a few minutes he came back and said that development on the Mac client had stopped. Have to believe its true if it comes from their support person, so I uninstalled SecureSpot from all my Macs and PCs.

I like it but..., March 28, 2008
By user (TX USA)
I gives you a great sense of security and protection. So protected are we that the firewall does not allow any messenger to get through it. Therefore I can't chat (snif!) And since I'm just starting to get to know this product I do not want to open ports (UDP or TCP in an indiscriminate way. If you like the basic 101 configuration it works just fine. If you want to costumize it, that's a different story.

A quality piece of equipment, February 13, 2008
By user (AZ, USA)
It's pretty difficult to make a wireless network router simple to configure and operate for a non- (or anti-) technical person. As long as you go into a purchase of a router with this in mind, you'll probably be okay.
Personally my technical knowledge of network and computer operations is pretty high, so my experience with this product may be different than most. I have to say that I love this router. In the world of routers, this isn't a "top of the line" product (see the D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Wireless Router for that) but it's just one click down from that. I can't really justify spending the additional $30-$50 for a few more esotertic options.
This router does wireless N and G very well. You will likely have to do some tweaking and pre-planning on your client side if you want to get wireless N to work. My wireless connections are always strong (I probably venture about 30-70 feet away from the base station) even through walls. I even have one wired connection on the router. I've never experienced a drop in the wireless signal or any sort of random reboot of the router.
One of the most important things you'll need to do, however, is to update the router's firmware as soon as you get it. Then create an administrator password to access the router's configuration. Then carefully take the time to set up wireless security of WPA or WPA2 strength. Unfortunately nowadays there are many free "hacking tools" available on the internet that can crack WEP security - it's just too weak regardless of the length of your password.
Some great features of this router: there is a built-in firmware update tool in the web-configuration that lets you click a button and check for the latest firmware. It also has a "WPA/WPA2" security setting that will force clients that support WPA2 to connect via WPA2, or if the client doesn't support WPA2, it will connect via WPA (if the client supports neither then the connection is refused). This keeps things a little more compatible, but still secure. The web-configuration also includes a setup wizard that will walk you through setting up all the security settings on the router, including the admin password and WPA/WPA2 access security.
I feel that this is a solid and secure router and highly recommend it.
