This is a self contained Bluetooth Access Point with a Router. Bascally, you connect this to your LAN and it allows you to create a high speed LAN connection vis Bluetooth. Bluetooth is lower power than most 802.11 WIFI. Also a lot of cellular phones and PDAs have Bluetooth access, but not WIFI.
Setup is easy, for the basic system, it's plug an play. Plug into your LAN, plug in the power, then use your bluetooth device to make a LAN connection. Pair the device to the router and you are connected.
Usually I use the router to connect a Palm lifedrive and a Palm Treo 680 to the internet. I have also used a Dell 620 with a bluetooth card.
The only downside is that there is only 1 usable ethernetport on the back. You cannot plug in another hard wired connection to the router. Also, for the Laptop, 802.11g is definitely faster.
It is very very small, making it very easy for travel.
