Description:
The D-LinkAir DCF-650W/K is a kit that includes the D-LinkAir DCF-650W wireless compact flash type II card packaged with the D-Link DCF-653, a CF-to-PC card converter. The kit provides a flexible wireless adapter solution to use with PDAs or laptops. The DCF-650W CF card is an easy way to connect PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) such as the Compaq iPAQ, HP Jornada, and Casio 125 or Handheld PCs (HPCs) to an existing IEEE 802.11b wireless network. When the DCF-650W is used with the DCF-653 CF-to-PC card converter, the DCF-650W/K functions as a wireless PC card adapter for a laptop computer. The DCF-650W/K is targeted at users who own a PDA and a laptop that want to connect to an existing IEEE 802.11b wireless local area network. The D-LinkAir DCF-650W CF card can be used with wide range of existing pocket PCs, PDAs and Handheld PCs with a Type II CF slot. The DCF-650W when used with the DCF-653 requires a PC card slot that is available in most of the current Windows-based laptops. The DCF-650W operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency range and utilizes Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS). With DSSS support, the DCF-650W is capable of operating at data transmission rates of 11, 5.5, 2, and 1 Mbps. The DCF-650W has an effective range of up to 139m in an open environment. Also, the DCF-650W takes advantage of 128-bit WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) Encryption to ensure that data security is not easily compromised in a wireless networked environment.

Great Wireless Card, July 25, 2002
By user (California, USA)
I just purchased a laptop and an IPAQ Pocket PC and I used this card for both. I just pull the card from on and plug it in the other. The set up was as easy as 1.2.3. very easy, no issues with manuals or long instructions. I don't recall needing the instructions for more than a minute or so. Very easy to install and very practical... especially for my needs.

I'll give it a 5 *****
